Contacts

Create a Static segment

Build a fixed group of contacts that won't change on its own — from a CSV file or a one-time filter of your contacts. Perfect for one-off campaigns to a specific list.

1

Start a new segment and pick Static

On the Segments tab, click New Segment. Enter a name, choose the Static card ("fixed list"), and click Next.
2

Choose how to define it

Pick how to fill the segment: Upload CSV File to import a list, or Use Filters to capture a one-time snapshot of matching contacts. This guide covers both — for the CSV route, choose Upload CSV File and click Next. (The filter route is shown at the end.)
3

Upload your CSV file

Use Download Sample CSV to grab a correctly formatted file if you need one. Drop your file on the box or browse to it, then choose how to handle contacts that already exist — Update records to refresh them, or Skip records to keep what you have. Click Map Columns to continue.
4

Map the CSV columns

Match your file's columns to contact fields. Name and Phone are both required; Allow Campaign is optional. A tick shows each mapped column. Once Name and Phone are set, click Confirm Import.
5

Review and import

Check the summary — the source file, how many columns are mapped, and how many valid contacts were found. Rows missing a name or phone are counted as invalid and skipped. Click Proceed to import.
6

Name and create the segment

The import report shows how many contacts were new, updated, or invalid. Confirm the segment name and click Create Segment. Your fixed list is saved on the Segments tab.
7

Alternative — build it from a filter instead

Prefer to snapshot your existing contacts rather than upload a file? Start a New Segment, name it, pick Static and click Next — then on the define screen choose Use Filters and click Next.
8

Set your filter conditions

Build conditions the same way as an Active segment — each an attribute, an operation and a value, combined with AND and OR. Click Preview Contacts to see who matches right now.
9

Freeze them into the segment

Click Create Segment. Unlike an Active segment, the matching contacts are captured as a fixed snapshot — the list won't change even if those contacts later stop matching.
