Build a self-updating group from filter conditions — contacts join and leave automatically as they match. Active segments are a Pro feature. New to segments? Start with What are segments?.

Start a new segment and pick Active
On the Segments tab, click New Segment. Give the segment a name, then choose the Active card ("updates automatically") and click Next.

Build your filter conditions
Add conditions that describe who belongs — each is an attribute, an operation and a value. Conditions inside one box are combined with AND (all must match); add another box with OR to widen the group. This is what keeps the segment live: anyone matching the rules is included.

Preview the matching contacts
Click Preview Contacts. The right panel lists everyone who matches right now and shows the approximate size and what share of your contacts it covers — a quick sanity check before you save.

Create the segment
Click Create Segment. It appears on the Segments tab and keeps its membership current on its own — you never have to rebuild it as your contacts change.
